The Archives and Records Association (UK and Ireland) was formed by the
merger of the Society of Archivists, the National Council on Archives, and
the Association of Chief Archivists in Local Government. The official
launch took place in Nottingham on 15 July. Brief details can be seen at
http://www.communitynewswire.press.net/article.jsp?id=6929262.

The Federation of Family History Societies was a member of the National
Council on Archives where it represented the views of users of archives,
particularly family historians. It will continue this role as a founder
member of the new Association's Consultative Forum which met for the first
time on 14 July at Westminster Hall, London.
